Chapter one
A word may be defined as a minial free form of a language that has a given sound ,meaning and syntacitc function.
Chapter Two
Words are composed of morphemes. A morpheme is the mininal meaningful unit of the English language.
Morphemes are important in the word-building process because the two most central and productive word-form processes, compouding and affixation.
Chapter three
As a subject of study, word formation is that branch of lexic which studies the patterns on which a language, in this case the English language, coins new words.

In this chapter we discussed the processes of shortening or processes in word-formation .
