12.skim 略读
1)look quickly through (to locate main ideas)
e.g.
It is Mr. Ginsberg's habit to skim the newspapers at breakfast.
She skim through/over the notice, found nothing important, and thrust it into the waste basket .
2)remove floating matter from the surface of a liquid.
e.g.
skim the cream from the milk
3)move lightly over a surface,thoching here and there
e.g.
On summer evenings,dragonflies are seen to skim over the rive.
 
13.look over:examine ,inspect
e.g.
They looked over several kinds of new bikes before making up their minds to buy.
 
14.organize:arrange in order ;form into a whole
e.g.
The hostess is known for organizing dancing parties.
Students are organized to take part in community services.
Allow me a minute to organize my thoughts .
 
15.double :(v.)make or become twice as great
e.g.
How did you double the profits/production of this factory in so short a time?
double:(adj.)twice as much ;having two like things or parts
e.g.
The profit of this factory is double what it was ayear ago.
That person of double chins reserved a double room at our hotel.
as well: also; too; in addition
e.g.
Iam going to London and my sister is coming as well.
I bought some apples, cherries, coconuts, bears, oranges, grapes, bananas and pineapples as well.
16.later:afterwards
e.g.
This event was frequently mentioned in later historic documents.
Let's drop it know, and we will discuss this problem in detail later.
 
17.go over :read again; review; examine
e.g.
Our teather is going over our examinations papers
now.
 
18.mention:(vt.)speak or write about something in a few words
e.g.
I heard my name mentionde in your conversation.
(n.)referring to 提及 
e.g.
At the mention of the headmaster, the pupil's heart sank.
 
be confused:be bewildered, be mixed up
I am confusde about the difference between these expressions.
remain confused about: be still confused about
 
19.lead to:have as a result; cause
e.g.
The wording is too vague; it is likely to lead to misunderstanding.
This kind of academic research will not lead to any pracical result, I am afraid.
